  CRRC established its Innovation Consortium for National Science and Technology Platforms in Qingdao on June 25, marking a further step in strengthening its coordinated research and development system.

  The consortium brings together CRRC’s national-level innovation platforms, universities, research institutions, government bodies and industry-chain partners to advance collaborative research, technology development and commercialization. It is designed to improve the connection between basic research, engineering validation and industrial application, supporting CRRC’s long-term innovation capacity in rail transit and related advanced manufacturing sectors.

  Sun Yongcai, Party Secretary and Chairman of CRRC Group, attended the meeting and delivered remarks. He noted that global technology competition is increasingly shifting toward basic and frontier research, while rail transit equipment is moving toward higher speed, intelligence and green development. In this context, the depth of original technology reserves will be critical to the long-term competitiveness of the industry.

  CRRC currently operates 12 national-level science and technology innovation platforms, including national key laboratories, a national technology innovation center, national industrial technology engineering centers, a national manufacturing innovation center and Belt and Road joint laboratories. These platforms support CRRC’s independent R&D capabilities, industry technology leadership and participation in major strategic projects.

  Through the new consortium, CRRC aims to strengthen resource coordination, promote joint research on key technologies, accelerate the application of research outcomes, and support high-level talent development. The consortium will also help build cross-disciplinary and cross-sector innovation mechanisms involving enterprises, universities, research institutes, suppliers and end users.

  As part of the initiative, CRRC further clarified the role of the National High-Speed Train Technology Innovation Center. The Center will focus on frontier and common technology research, next-generation train architecture, concept verification, pilot validation, application demonstration, technology transfer, supplier evaluation, testing and certification, and overseas certification support.

  The establishment of the consortium is expected to enhance CRRC’s R&D system, improve full-cycle innovation management, and support the company’s development of smarter, greener and more competitive rail transit technologies.
