CRRC officially launched its “Xuan” premium equipment brand series at its new energy equipment base in Dandong, Liaoning Province on June 16. At the same event, CRRC debuted “Xuansa,” the first wind power product brand under the “Xuan” series, with the English brand name VELSTAR. The first VELSTAR wind turbine unit also rolled off the production line at the Dandong base on the same day, marking a concrete step in CRRC’s development of a high-end equipment brand portfolio.

The launch of the “Xuan” series and the debut of VELSTAR represent an important step in the company’s brand value enhancement initiative. The new brand series is intended to support product quality upgrades, strengthen market positioning, and advance CRRC’s move from product delivery toward brand-led, technology-led and value-led development in high-end equipment and new energy sectors.
The “Xuan” series is CRRC’s dedicated brand for standardized, serialized and platform-based complete vehicles and equipment products. Positioned in the premium equipment segment, the series is guided by high-end, intelligent and green development. Under CRRC’s brand strategy, the “Xuan” series covers multiple product areas, including serialized new energy locomotives, China-standard metro trains and urban rail vehicles, and serialized wind turbine systems. Its product portfolio currently includes “Xuankun” for new energy locomotives, “Xuanzhen” for metro and urban rail vehicles, and “Xuansa” / VELSTAR for wind turbine systems.
As the first wind power product brand under the “Xuan” series, VELSTAR is positioned as a professional brand for serialized wind turbine systems. Building on CRRC’s technical capabilities in high-speed rail and advanced equipment manufacturing, the brand focuses on performance, low-carbon development, safety and adaptability. It aims to support CRRC’s broader positioning at the intersection of high-end equipment and green energy.

The English name VELSTAR combines “VEL,” referring to wind velocity and efficient wind capture, with “STAR,” suggesting a benchmark product in the industry. The name is designed to improve the brand’s international recognition and support CRRC’s global brand communication.

The Dandong new energy equipment base, where the first VELSTAR unit rolled off the production line, is an important part of CRRC’s wind power industry layout in northern coastal China. Dandong offers geographic advantages as a border, coastal and riverside city, as well as access to wind energy resources. The base focuses on three major areas: wind turbine and electrical control equipment manufacturing, lithium battery energy storage equipment manufacturing, and large wind turbine component manufacturing.
The rollout of the first wind turbine unit indicates that the Dandong base has entered the stage of scaled wind turbine production. It also supports the development of Liaoning Province’s first full-industry-chain manufacturing base for offshore wind power equipment and energy storage equipment.
